Charlie Brown in Syracuse, NY

Hello, my name is Charlie, or Charlie Brown, to be exact, or else Teddy Bear! Can you tell why my foster mom calls me Teddy Bear? She says I look just like a stuffed animal! Well let me tell you, it has been a long road to getting me ready for adoption, but my foster mom says that I am so special that it just took a little extra time! I am 12 years old. Mom says I act more like a teenager. She says I am a really good boy! I am very smart. I aim to please and I will do just about anything for a cookie, or a carrot!! Mom says carrots and green beans are way better for me than cookies. I like both!

I came from a home where I lived with an elderly lady who probably could not take care of me as she would have liked. She became very ill and her really nice son turned me over to rescue to help me find my new forever home! I have been with my foster for mom for about 4 months and my main goal was to lose weight and become healthy! I came into rescue weighing 36 pounds. I could hardly walk through the house and tipped over backwards when I had to go potty . I am very happy to report that I currently weigh 21 pounds and guess what I RUN, yup, run through the house and around the backyard!! My new energetic body is awesome but mom says I still have a few more pounds to go! I have a large fenced in yard that I love to run around
and explore in and think that my new home would be safer if it had a fence too!

I have a few special qualities which make me a very unique boy. At some point during my life I was probably sleeping and awakened too suddenly. So for that reason, I do need to sleep in a crate, away from any brothers or sisters. I live with 6 other dogs right now and I love running around with them and we get along great, but it’s better for to sleep by myself. Mom puts my crate right next to her side of the bed so that I don’t feel alone and that makes me very happy. I do have a few health issues that need care. I have dry eye and need my eyes rinsed out a few times a day and I need 2 kinds of eye meds. I also require 2 heart medications.

I love little toys and play fetch with my foster mom. Rolling on my back and wiggling around is one of my very favorite things to do. It makes my foster mom giggle and she says that is just part of my charm! Well everybody that’s me Charlie! My foster mom says she really hopes that someone will look at my picture and see the Teddy Bear that she sees whenever she looks at me. She loves senior dogs and says that they are her very favorite. I guess that means me too! I cannot wait to meet my new family!!! Will that be you??
