Sophia came to Cavalier Rescue USA as part of a larger group of Cavaliers, but appears to be a Cavalier Papillion mix. She is such a happy and fun dog, and she is the world’s best cuddler. She’ll quickly jump up with you if you’re sitting in a chair, a bed, or a couch and she’ll nuzzle right under the covers up against you. If you step outside or leave for a little bit and come back, you’ll find Sophia standing up like an adorable little meerkat, anxiously awaiting your return with a huge grin. She constantly walks around with a happy smile smile, and you’ll feel like the most important person in the world with Sophia in your home.
At first, Sophia was very shy and scared and hid in any small, confined space that she could find. After a few weeks, she started to come out of her shell and let her happy and fun personality shine through. She still is skittish and gets scared easily, but over time we suspect that will fade. She attached well to her foster mom but growls at the dad in the family, so she may be a dog that attaches mostly to one person.
Sophia is in good health. She recently got her teeth cleaned and now they’re pearly white!
Sophia is mostly house broken. She’s had some accidents, primarily when it was wet outside, but also a few other times. The vet said this could be behavioral and she’s proved she can hold it a long time, so once she is settled in her new home the occasional accidents will hopefully stop. She’s best about using the bathroom outside if a person is outside with her.
