Cooper in Dallas, TX

Update 4-25-17: We have received several great applications for Cooper, so aren't taking more for him at this time. Thank you!

Cooper is an approximately 18-month old male Cavalier with the energy and spunk of a puppy! He has boundless amounts of energy and loves to play with his foster brother and canine friends. When his friends have had enough play time, Cooper knows how to find his puppy toys and entertain himself. Eventually, he tuckers himself out and wants to be a cuddle bug.

Cooper is now up-to-date on all his vaccinations, microchipped, and heartworm and heart murmur free. He is mostly housebroken but will need some more work on this. Prior to being neutered, Cooper had a tendency to mark so he wore a belly band to help minimize this. He still doesn’t signal his person when he needs to go potty so it is best to let him out regularly throughout the day. Cooper is a great candidate for a doggy door.

He loves his daily walks, is great on a leash, and enjoys seeing pups along the way. Just be sure not to drop the leash though for fear he will take off. Because he is a runner, you have to be careful as to how you go about opening the door; he sure is quick! He does great with kids of all ages and other dogs.

He tends to be a collector as he gathers his toys but doesn’t guard them. Like most Cavaliers, he would much prefer to sleep in the human bed with you, but he does fine sleeping in his crate every night.

Weighing in at a little more than 13 lbs, he is easy to pick up and carry around. Still, families with young children will need to be careful about this because he can be easily dropped with all his spunkiness. Given Cooper’s energy level, he really needs to have access to a secured, fenced-in yard so he can run and play to his heart’s desire. He is a climber and a sneaky little fellow so the fence must be secure, or he may find a way to slip out!

Cooper would do best with a home that has other pets for him to play with, someone that is home most of the day, and a family that has the time to walk him regularly. His foster family has enjoyed his sweet, loving, playful temperament and sure will miss him when he leaves for her forever home.
