Willow in Cherry Hill, NJ
Willow is an adorable 3-year-old female Ruby Cavalier who came to Cavalier Rescue USA from a commercial breeder. Willow is a very curious young lady and is looking for her forever family.
Willow has learned to be a family dog. She has really enjoyed being a part of a family with the three other Cavaliers in the home. She plays well with her foster sisters as well as humans. Willow is very fun loving and social. She loves to say hello to anyone while on a walk, at a store, or any other dog-friendly place. When visitors came to her foster home, she would personally greet everyone. She especially loves anyone who will play fetch with her.
Willow has young dog energy; she loves to run and chase. Willow can be found rooting though the dog toy box searching for her favorite toys. Once she finds her preferred toys, she will place them in a special spot in the house, usually on a blanket or in her dog bed. Willow is a typical Cavalier who will follow you everywhere. She loves to observe her humans and wants to be your assistant in any task.
Willow enjoys going on adventures with her family- whether it is the neighborhood, parks, or shopping. She enjoys car rides and is always excited to go on a trip. She is a very good car passenger.
Willow most loves being near her humans. She is especially happy sitting on the couch and the bed. She loves to be pet, especially belly rubs. She loves to nestle in your arms and just look at you.
When coming into foster, Willow was extremely overweight at 34 pounds. Through a strict diet and exercise regime, Willow has lost seven pounds. Willow will need a family that is committed to keeping her at a healthy weight with diet and exercise. Willow is very active, and walks between one to three miles a day with her foster sisters. This exercise has enabled her to keep her at a healthy weight.
Willow is still working on learning basic commands as well as being housetrained. She is good when keeping to a schedule and will follow her foster sisters outside, but she does not yet alert if she needs to go outside, but is beginning to stand near the door. Her forever home will need to continue working with her on basic commands as well as reinforcing housetraining by keeping to a consistent schedule.
Willow sleeps in either her dog bed or on the big bed with her humans and her foster sisters. She would much prefer sleeping in the big bed with her family. Truly, Willow loves the bed; it is one of her favorite places and she will lay on the bed any chance she gets.
While in foster care, Willow had a spay and a dental cleaning, with no teeth extractions. Willow was treated for pancreatitis during her initial vet visit. She completed medication for this diagnosis. She was also diagnosed with a grade two heart murmur, which does not require medication. Willow is up-to-date on all her vaccines.
Willow gets along with other dogs, but has not been tested with cats. She gets along with younger and older children.
