Ginger in San Jose, CA
Hi, I’m Ginger, a 1 year old beautiful Blenheim sweetheart, I even have two ruby hearts on my coat to prove it. While I’m shy with new people, I’m very devoted to those I know and love. I’ll follow you around gazing at you soulfully and pleading for some attention while wagging my whole body. Sometimes I get so excited I jump up and put my feet on your legs to ask for more love. I play well with other dogs and am good about leaving my foster mom’s cats alone. I even play well with puppies.
I came to my foster home with worms and some malnutrition, which are now all handled. I’ve also had my spay and recovered quickly from it with no complications. My shots and microchip are all done too.
I’m very well crate and potty trained and will ask to go out with a whine and possibly put my feet on your leg to insist. So as long as you pay attention I’m a good girl about doing my job where I should. So I’m in great health and ready to find my forever home.
While I do enjoy attention, I also love to be active. I enjoy walks and exploring the backyard. I love to travel and have done excellently on long car trips with my foster family. I do greet other dogs, though sometimes I’ll move away from people rather than greet them. I do well at walking along with my foster mom and enjoy the new smells and sights. I particularly like time in the backyard and sometimes refuse to come back in. Be aware though, if left on my own for too long, I may decide to do a bit of gardening. I love chew toys as well, compressed rawhide, split antlers, and any toy with textured surfaces or good flavors will keep me busy.
I’m used to my crate and sleep there at night but I have napped with my foster mom some on the bed and do love to snuggle on the couch as well. I’m frequently found happily curled up with my foster siblings.
My foster mom has taught me several basic commands like sit, come, and stay, but I often choose when to listen to them. Yes, I’m a little independent 😀 However, if you’re patient and give me lots of positive reinforcement I’ll keep on learning. I’m very eager to be loved and pampered.
If you feel you’re a good fit for me, please submit an online application (completely filled out) so we can get to know you better and then send an email to our Northern California Coordinator Sarah Knudsen at sayrahk@gmail.com and let her know you’re interested in me. I’m looking forward to finding my furrever family.
With all my love, Ginger.
