Buddy in Loveland, CO

Meet Buddy – an energetic, smart, loveable, Cavalier (or possible Cavalier mix). He has a large heart patch on his side showing how much love he has to share with his forever family. Buddy just turned one-year-old on February 22. This sweet, young boy has much energy and cuddles to share for a lifetime.

Buddy is looking for a forever home that will spend time with him. He is very smart and learns quickly. He thrives on attention and is motivated by treats. He loves to run in the fenced in backyard chasing/fetching balls and toys. There is no promise he will return them to you but he is working on it. He loves to zoom around as fast as he can in circles in the backyard.

Buddy can be initially shy and fearful of people he does not know. His foster person has been working with Buddy with positive behavior techniques. He is becoming comfortable when people come to the door with treats. The techniques being used should continue in his new home. When Buddy is comfortable with you, he is very affectionate and loves to cuddle on your lap. He will be your shadow following you everywhere in your home.

Buddy does well with older, well-behaved children and friendly dogs. He should also do well as an only dog since he thrives on attention. He does not care for cats.

While in foster care, Buddy was neutered, micro-chipped, heart worm tested and brought up to date on vaccinations. No health issues were found. Buddy is doing well with potty training but will need to continue the training in his new home. He will let you know he has to go potty by barking at you and pacing from you to the back door. He needs to be observed when outside for potty breaks to make sure he remembers to go before returning to the house.

Go for a ride in the car? Buddy is good with that. He loves some time outside in the fenced in backyard. He constantly has his nose to the ground exploring the environment. He loves to play “find it” where his foster person throws edible treats out into the yard for him to find. He is always on alert to let you know if a squirrel enters the yard.

As with most Cavaliers (and Cavalier mixes), Buddy would do best in a home with someone home the much of the time. His forever home will need to continue his behavior training. He would love to have a fenced in backyard where he can run, explore, and play. Most of all he needs someone who will cuddle and love him in return. He will return that love unconditionally.
