Koyo in University City, MO

Hi! My name is Koyo, but foster mom often says it as “Ko! No”! I guess I try to get into things, but this is all new and exciting! So, if you are looking for a handsome, active younger man in your life, look no further, because you have found him. I promise to love you and snuggle with you and follow you wherever you go!

I love snoozing next to foster mom as much as I love playing with my toys and chasing my foster brother and sister around! So much better than being in a crate. Life is really fun, I have a big yard to explore, but foster mom says I cannot eat everything I find outside. When she leaves the house, I have to stay in my play pen, but I am good and haven’t had many accidents and really would rather go potty outside and not in my space. Snuggling on the couch and playing with my toys, yeah, this is the life.

This is Koyo’s foster mom. Koyo was born 11/10/2024, so he is 4 months old. He is a wonderful, clumsy, playful guy who will cover you with puppy kisses and loves to snuggle, although when held, he can be a wiggle worm!

Potty training is going well, he is on a schedule of every 3 hours and always rewarded with verbal praise and sometimes a treat. He is crated by my bed at night and is quiet until morning (10pm-6am). He is a healthy active puppy who is up to date on shots, although not neutered, as he is too young. Cavalier Rescue USA will retain ownership until this paperwork is provided that this has been done. His forever family will be required to do this when he is around 10 months old.

He did not have a name, but he is a larger pup at 13.5 lbs, and loves to roll and tumble with his siblings, I thought it was appropriate to name him after a Sumo wrestler! He has been with me a few weeks, and has been a joy to have around. He is energetic, and needs play time or walks throughout the day to keep him active and out of trouble. The first week, he would get loose from the sunroom and immediately found the toy basket in the den. He loves his toys, and will pick out different ones to play with. Like most kids, he doesn’t like to put them up!

Like any puppy, he wants to explore everything and see how most things taste, but has not been too destructive in his chewing so all toys are still intact, however you need to watch your shoes and socks and you must secure all electrical cords. He has that great Cavalier personality and will quickly learn good behavior with a “NO”, “Good boy” and sometimes a bit of kibble for a reward. Koyo does not know a stranger and loves everyone. We are working on leash training and basic sit commands.

Koyo needs someone who is home most of the time, and willing to provide puppy training to avoid bad habits. He responds well to praise, love, and kibble as treats.
