Buckeye in Dallas, TX

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is Buckeye with his new family.

Buckeye is an absolute sweetheart, and ready to find his “furever” family. He came into rescue from a breeder with a gorgeous ruby color coat that is silky soft. He is two years old, and looking for a family that can offer maximum love and attention.

Buckeye is still learning how to be a loving family member. He loves to watch the world around him rather than be an active participant. (Unless, of course, “active participation” involves getting loved on.) Due to Buckeye’s shyness and his desire to watch the world around him, a calmer home with calmer pups or calmer older children would be ideal. (A home without pups or children would also work well for him.)

Buckeye loves to head out into the backyard and explore no matter the temperature. His ideal home would also include a securely fenced yard. (He does know how to use a doggie door for the family that desires not to play doorman all the time.) For those families who are on-the-go, you’ll find that Buckeye also does well on a leash and rides in a car without a peep. But he’s just as happy being a homebody, as long as his family is by his side.

Because Buckeye is still learning to be a housemate, he’s still getting used to snuggling with his humans on furniture. But, while in foster care, he has been slowly learning that couches and doggie beds can provide some nice comforting napping spots. In the meantime, it’s not uncommon to find him snoozing the day away on the bare floor using his foster Mom’s foot for a pillow, even if a doggie bed is inches away.

Buckeye is in good health. While in foster care, he was neutered, microchipped, brought up-to-date on his vaccinations, and put on heartworm prevention. His teeth, heart, and lungs are all in great shape. Buckeye is still getting the hang of potty training and a belly band is recommended for now. He has had improvement since his neutering, along with his knowing how to use a doggie door and his foster Mom’s careful attention to the clock.

Buckeye is a very sweet boy and a complete love bug. He is a friendly dog and gets along well with other dogs. He will need a family that can be patient with him due to his shyness learning how to be a loved and cherished member of the family. Buckeye’s ideal family would include someone who is at home most of the time.
