Callie in Ypsilanti, MI

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is Callie with her new dad…

This little bundle of love is looking for her forever home. Sweet, 10-pound Callie, is a 6-year-old Cavalier mix, who came into rescue as a shy, timid girl after being released from a breeder. In her short time in foster care, little Callie is blossoming into a happy Cavalier with a big heart.

Upon arriving in rescue, Callie needed some extensive dental work and needed all her teeth removed. But that hasn’t slowed her down at all. Callie has healed up nicely, eating soft and wet food like a champ. Because of her dental work, she will need to continue on a soft food diet; no hard food or treats.

Her foster mom reports that Callie has done great with her potty training, as long as she is taken out on a consistent schedule. This is easy for her foster mom who works from home and who has other little Cavaliers in the home to show Callie what it means to be a family pet.

Callie loves going for walks and playing with her foster siblings. Being outdoors is a new experience for Callie, so she would do best in a home with a fence to help her gain more confidence. Her foster home also has cats and Callie has done totally fine with the kitties.

While Callie’s foster mom is working, Callie sits on the nearby couch with the other Cavaliers in the home forming a big pile of little heartbeats and floppy ears. She likes to get people hugs, but on her terms. Callie is still learning to trust people.

When Callie had her vet visit, the vet noted a grade 3 heart murmur and prescribed Vetmedin (about $100/month) for the rest of her life. The vet also suggested she see a cardiologist annually. Callie also has a bi-lateral rear luxating patella, which is currently stable, and not bothering Callie. She has been spayed, microchipped and is up-to-date in her vaccinations.
