Daphne in Louisville, KY

Daphne is a gentle and sweet-natured tricolor Cavalier who has faced a challenging start in life. She is 6 years old and was released into rescue from a breeder. She has spent most of her years in a kennel, and as a result, she is still learning how to be a cherished pet. Daphne is timid and wary of new experiences and people, requiring a calm environment filled with patience and love to help her truly blossom.

Daphne is looking for a quiet home with a couple or a single person, ideally with older children who can give her the time and attention she needs to feel safe and loved. She thrives on routine and has adapted well in her foster home, where she has become a good eater and enjoys her mealtime and well-deserved treats. A fenced yard is a necessity due to her fears and need for security.

Having a canine companion would be beneficial for Daphne, as she seems to follow the spunky puppy in her foster home around. She completely ignores the cats in her foster home and even allows them to eat from her dish. Daphne enjoys following her foster mom outside, but indoors, she has claimed a spot on the couch as her safe haven. Although her little legs aren’t strong enough to jump onto the couch, a small step stool helps her get there each time, where she likes to bring up small toys to keep her company.

While she hasn’t yet warmed up to being a lap dog, Daphne likes to stay close, snuggling against your leg or side. If you gently pick her up and hold her, she seems trusting and content, warming up more each day.

Daphne is 14 pounds, has been spayed, had several teeth extracted, and is up to date on all her shots. She does well with house training and is let out frequently.
