Ellie in North Plainfield, NJ

Hi! I’m Ellie or Ellie Belly as they call me most days. I’m a 6-year-old, 19.5 pound female Ruby Cavalier King Charles spaniel (born February 7, 2019). I came into foster care after spending the first part of my life as a breeding pup. Let me tell you, my new life is great! I love snuggles and sleeping on the couch. 

I’m up to date on vaccines, microchipped, spayed and had a dental while in foster care. I did lose quite a few upper teeth but I haven’t noticed! While in foster care I also saw a cardiologist and I was diagnosed with heart disease common to the breed. It was assessed at stage B2 and I need daily meds and regular follow-ups with a cardiologist. I have also had a few instances of acid reflux, the vet prescribed daily Pepcid AC which has stopped the episodes.

I LOVE to snuggle and go for walks. Some days I just can’t get close enough to you for those snuggles and if you’re not petting me, I’ll probably nudge you for some more pets, I’m an excellent nudger. Toys don’t really interest me unless they have treats inside. And those puzzle toys, they’re so easy!

I’ve met a few older kids and a cat briefly and did okay both times. I’m currently in a foster home without other dogs, but I get along just fine with other pups. I would be fine as a solo dog or with other mellow dogs. While I much prefer you to stay home so I can either snuggle with you or nap nearby, I have done okay in a crate by myself when my foster mom goes out. I am housebroken but will need reinforcement in a new home.
