Frankie in Los Angeles, CA

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is Frankie with his new family…

Hi everyone! Everybody is calling me “Frankie” since arriving to foster care, but I will answer with a wagging tail to whatever endearment you may call me. I am a smart, agile and playful Blenheim Cavalier with a beautiful lucky spot on top of my head. My foster Mom says I have a sweet expressive puppy face with soulful eyes. I weigh 16.5 pounds which is a good weight for me. I’m ready to find my forever family.

My exact birthdate is not known since I was part of a release from a commercial breeder and arrived to foster care with no documentation. At my intake exam, the vet said I’m approximately two years old now based on my teeth and stature. I was living with lots of other dogs where I did not get the attention that a cute Cavalier like me needs and deserves. That has all changed, and I am living the good life and learning many things.

Due to my previous background, I am a bit skittish around people and can bark and shy away when a new human approaches. With patience, I will slowly approach on my own terms. I like to give and receive kisses. I love cuddles, pets and snuggling in laps. I have not been around children. I would probably do best with older dog-savvy children as I still get nervous with sudden movements, new noises, and new people.

I am currently living with three other Cavaliers and have seamlessly joined the pack. I love to play with my foster Cavalier siblings and take naps curled up together with them. I get anxious and vocal when by myself, and can be quite the escape artist when that happens. I desire a home with another canine companion of similar size and a good temperament.

Did I tell you that I am very nimble? Just like Spiderman! I can climb up and over shorter dog gates and brick walls. I have even been known to chew through mesh gates. My foster Mom thinks that I would be a good fit for agility classes. I have tried out some agility equipment, and really love the tunnel and jumps.

I have also discovered toys and love to gently chew on small stuffed squeaky toys. I love walks on the leash. I still get a bit scared when cars drive by and I see big dogs, but I am getting better on each walk. My house training is a work in progress with frequent trips outside to help me understand expectations. I am eager-to-please, and am very happy when praised with positive reinforcement. I currently wear a belly band in my foster home for some marking which should decrease now that I am neutered. If I am told “no” I will run away, and get scared while making cute puppy eyes.

While in foster care, I have received the medical care I needed. I was brought up to date on vaccines and neutered, which included removal of an undescended testicle. I was also treated for parasites. Now that I am healthy and eating well, my coat is now growing in straight and glossy. I am easy to groom, as I love my baths and being pampered.

I enjoy my good diet of kibble mixed with Just Food For Dogs. I have enjoyed trying pumpkin, carrots, broccoli and blueberries. I get really excited to eat and get my own bowl of food. I will get very vocal and dance around waiting for my food, and then I gobble it up very fast. I use a slow feeder bowl which I enjoy. I need to be watched when I eat so I do not try to eat my canine siblings’ food. I am very treat-motivated, and have enjoyed learning some basic obedience. I really like to please and I am a quick learner.

I am eager to find my very own family and continue living the good life. My ideal family should be patient, and have an experienced owner at home with low alone time.
