Hamish in San Antonio, TX

Hamish is a five year old Blenheim boy born 03/03/2020. Hamish came to the rescue after his owner moved into assisted living.

Hamish has two speeds: play and sleep. When playing Hamish prefers playing fetch (his foster mom is impressed with his fetching skills). He also likes squeaking on toys and going for walks. When asleep Hamish does not move. Every now and then he snores!

Hamish has had no formal obedience training. His foster mom has tried working on sit and getting him to go through a doggie door with little success. However, this sweet boy is eager to please and would give any training his undivided attention. Hamish knows his name and comes when called. He walks well on a leash.

Hamish is completely potty-trained and has never had an accident in his foster home. He sleeps soundly through the night for a full 8 hours. (Hamish would probably sleep longer if allowed, he is not a morning dog!) Hamish will occasionally bark at people out a window but in general is a very quiet dog.

Hamish is sweet and sensitive; showing no signs of aggression towards his foster siblings or other dogs he has met. He is one of the pickiest and slowest eaters his foster mom has met. After many experiments his foster mom discovered Hamish prefers eating out of an elevated cat bowl!

Hamish would prefer to spend 99% of his day inside. He will run from the backdoor to the yard, tip-toe on the grass, go potty, and then run back inside. He does not want to spend any extra time in the great outdoors. Consequently, his foster mom thinks he would do well in a house or apartment. He does need a daily walk, preferably on a sidewalk!

Hamish loves his people! His favorite thing is getting and receiving love: cuddles, pets, and snuggles. Hamish doesn’t like sitting in laps but he will get as close as he possibly can on the couch. He is equally devoted to his foster mom and dad, gladly cuddling next to whoever will give him the most pets! Hamish would do best in a home where there is someone home to play and cuddle with him most of the day.

Hamish is neutered and up to date with his recent health records and vaccinations. He has a slight heart murmur and will eventually need to see a cardiologist; however, he does not need medication at this time. Overall, he is happy and healthy. When Hamish came to the rescue his coat was matted badly; therefore, he was shaved, but his coat should grow back nicely. Here is a before photo…
