Holly in Cherry Hill, NJ

Update 10-22-24: Holly has a prospective family selected so we’re not taking more applications for her for now. Thank you!

Holly is an adorable 3-year-old female Ruby Cavalier who came to Cavalier Rescue USA from a commercial breeder. Despite her rough start to life, she is a very curious young lady and is looking for her forever family.

Holly is learning how to be a family dog. She follows the lead of her two foster sisters and loves to explore the backyard with them, looking at squirrels, rabbits, and birds. One of her favorite activities is to run in the backyard and roll in the grass. Given her active temperament, she would do best with a fenced yard.

Weighing in at 25 pounds, Holly has a fun-loving spirit and most enjoys hiking on nature trails, going to the dog park, and walking in the neighborhood. While in foster care, she has gone on a lot of adventures such as town festivals, restaurants, breweries, nature parks, and shopping. She enjoys car rides and is always excited to go on a trip.

Given her young age, Holly is very active and walks between one to three miles a day with her foster sisters. Because of this activity, Holly has learned to walk well on a leash, with a collar and a harness. With practice, she would be a good running or jogging partner.

Holly is still working on learning basic commands, as well as being housetrained. She is good when keeping to a schedule and will follow her foster sisters outside, but she does not yet alert if she needs to go outside, but is beginning to stand near the door. Her forever home will need to continue working with her on basic commands as well as reinforcing housetraining by keeping to a consistent schedule.

Holly most loves being near her humans. She is especially happy sitting on the couch and the bed with her family. She will place her head on her people’s laps, shoulders or arms; really anywhere she can get some human contact! She loves to be pet, especially belly rubs. Once Holly trusts you, she will give you kisses on your nose.

Holly sleeps in either her dog bed or on the big bed with her humans and her foster sisters. She would much prefer sleeping in the big bed with her pack! Truly, Holly loves the bed; it is one of her favorite places and she will lay on the bed any chance she gets.

While in foster care, Holly had a spay and dental work completed. She  is a healthy young lady and up-to-date on all her vaccines. When coming to rescue, Holly had many mats in her fur, and she received a very short hair cut. Her fur is growing in nicely, and with time, she will have a wonderful coat.

Holly gets along with other dogs, but has not been tested with cats. She gets along with younger and older children. Every person that meets Holly falls in love with her.
