Maci is a beautiful 4-year-old that came into rescue a couple of weeks ago after her owners surrendered her because they didn’t have the time to devote to her. Maci is silly, sassy, and oh-so-sweet! She's easy going and a total love bug.
We knew she had a history of seizures, so we took her in for a check-up as soon as possible. We discovered that she had a bacterial infection, possibly from a tick bite or kidney infection. We put her on antibiotics and also adjusted her seizure medications. In no time, this spunky little girl was feeling so much better and her personality was shining!
Her foster mom could see that Maci was still having some issues though. She wouldn’t jump on furniture and often fell when going up and down stairs and squatting to potty. She went in for a recheck and we discovered that Maci has bilateral luxating patellas. Her right side is the worst, and has been graded at a 3-4. She already has some arthritis developing in that knee joint, so surgery to correct the right side is the best option for Maci. Her left side does not need surgery at this time. She’s young and so playful, but it’s obvious she has some limitations and really needs this procedure.
The surgery, unfortunately, is costly. We are estimating Maci’s total vet bills to be around $3500. If you’d like to make a donation towards her care, please click the Donate button below.
