Maci in Climax, NC

Adoption Pending!

Maci is a gorgeous 4 year old that is ready for her forever home. She was surrendered to rescue because her owners no longer had the time to devote to her. She is a typical Cavalier in so many ways! This girl is silly, spunky, sassy, and oh-so-sweet. She loves everyone she meets, including children.

She was an only dog in her former home, but had been around other family member’s dogs, so she quickly adapted to life with her canine foster siblings. She seems to enjoy their company, although she does not initiate play with them. Maci absolutely loves to play, but would much rather play with a human. She’s always up for a good game of fetch or tug of war. If her foster family is too busy to play, Maci is often off on her own tossing a toy in the air or shaking it and growling at it!

While she does love to play, she also loves to cuddle. She will invite herself onto anyone’s lap and make herself right at home. She will even nudge her foster parents when she wants to be petted and is pretty good at getting what she wants! She’s not selfish though, and repays her foster parents with lots of sweet kisses!

Maci just underwent Medial Patellar Luxation surgery to correct her luxating patella on her right leg. She is recovering very well and it’s apparent she already feels much better! Her mobility has already greatly improved since having her surgery. Her surgeon and regular veterinarian have cleared her for adoption though because she’s doing so well! Her left knee has a mild luxation, but does not cause her pain or need surgery.

Prior to Maci having her surgery, she loved little romps in the yard, so once she’s completely recovered, she would love to go to home where she has some room outdoors to run and play. She would do well with respectful children and other dogs. She has not been tested around cats.

She was diagnosed with idiopathic epilepsy when she was 2, after a period of having seizures. Her seizures are currently controlled very well with a regimen of twice-daily inexpensive anti-seizure medications. She has currently been seizure free for over a year!

Maci’s former owners did a wonderful job potty training and crate training her. She potties on command when outdoors and she LOVES her crate. Often times, she’ll go in her crate all on her own, to take a nap. She also sleeps in her crate at night and never makes a peep, but once she gets into a permanent home, she’d probably be perfectly open to sleeping in the bed with her human, because this girl loves to snuggle!

In true Cavalier form, Maci loves to eat. She loves treats, and chewing on carrots and other healthy chews. She’s a quiet gal and only barks when she knows it’s almost time to eat or when her foster mom is about to leave the house and it’s time for her to get a treat. She will let her foster mom know if she forgets to give her a treat when she puts her in her crate!

Maci is spayed, microchipped, current on vaccines, and on heartworm and flea prevention. She knows basic commands and is very obedient. She is such an easy, fun-loving lady with a spirited personality!
