Jasper in Baltimore, MD

Jasper is an approximately 1-year-old Ruby Cavalier who had been found as a stray. He exudes Royal confidence and expresses his opinions and feelings as any good king does. He is a friendly boy that likes people and other dogs. He has not been exposed to cats or other small animals but does show minimal interest when on walks. He has been staying with a 7-year-old Cavalier and a 3-year-old Terrier mix and adapts well to both their personalities. He will play for hours with other dogs that have his energy level and he is gentle with the older laid-back dogs.

Jasper fears nothing except being left alone. Jasper is perfectly content when people and other pets are around but gets very upset when he is locked behind closed doors or gates. He obsessively barks at doors and tries to determine an escape route from the back yard if he knows you are in the front yard. He will need a very secure yard and some training for manners. Jasper has a few scars on his back that may not grow in fur there. My personal thoughts are that he was determined to find his people and snuck under a fence injuring himself in the process. 

 Jasper has not had any #2’s in the house and has only had #1 accidents a few times. He will gently nibble your hand if he needs to go outside or bark at you until you take him outside. When it comes to bedtime he likes to dig and sometimes has trouble settling down, but once settled he has the softest snore that lets you know he is content. He prefers to sleep on pillows or piles of blankets and next to his human.

Jasper is fine uncrated but does bark when you leave the house. He likes to sit in the window and will figure out which one gives him the best view.  

Jasper loves to explore the yard and garden. He will even take a nap on the patio while you do yard work. He enjoys playing with all kinds of toys and has been found rummaging around full body in the toy basket. 

Jasper is a loving dog who craves attention. He would be best suited in a home with older children and a dog companion that can teach him some manners and keep him company. He takes time to settle in  to his new surroundings and is very vocal about his dislikes and likes. When excited he has the cutest little leap. He’s also very athletic and would probably do well in agility glasses.  Once Jasper settles in and learns the rules of the roost he will likely be a perfect a perfect gentleman.
