Luka in Kensington, MD

Luka is an adorable 10 pound tricolor Cavapoo who was born 10/11/24.

His previous owners surrendered him to the rescue as they were not prepared for the care an energetic puppy requires. Luka has a lot of puppy energy. He loves to run around the yard, especially if he is chasing with a doggy friend. He also enjoys playing fetch and playing with his toys. His foster mom has been taking him for lots of long walks and play dates with other playful dogs. This has been so wonderful for Luka. Ideally his new family will be able to keep up the daily exercise for him and have another dog that is happy to play with him (or willing to set up play dates for him with other dogs). 

After his routine walks/play, Luka likes to take naps in a comfy dog bed or lay right in his foster mom’s lap. He is crate trained and sleeps in his crate at night. 

Luka’s foster parents have been working hard on potty training. Luka is doing very well but will need someone that understands he is not fully potty trained yet and they will need to continue with the training. Luka is a very smart dog. He has caught on to training commands such as “wait” and “sit” very quickly. Ideally his new home will take him to a dog training class and help him continue his obedience training. 

Luka currently has two human foster siblings, age 8 and 10. He has warmed up to them nicely. He would do okay in a home with calm children.  

Luka’s fecal test, upon coming into rescue, tested positive for a common parasite called Giardia. He is on a dewormer treatment now to clear that up. Otherwise, he is a very healthy little puppy. He has not been neutered yet. His adopter will need to have him neutered when he reaches the appropriate age.
