Maverick in Ocean Springs, MS

Hi, I’m Maverick! I’m an adorable, sweet, and handsome Ruby boy. When my former owner could no longer care for me, she made the loving decision to reach out to the wonderful folks at Cavalier Rescue USA to help me find my forever home.

My foster mom says I was born on February 21, 2024, which means I’m still a puppy—mind, body, and soul! I absolutely love playing and snuggling with other dogs. I also enjoy chasing and barking at my foster cat, but I have no intention of harming him. When my furry friends are too tired to play, I entertain myself with toys and bones. I’m just a little ball of energy!

Since joining Cavalier Rescue USA, I was brought current on vaccinations, microchipped, and started on heartworm prevention. I was born with cryptorchidism, which was resolved through neutering. I currently weigh 15 lbs. I have bilateral patellar luxation, and my veterinarian has advised that surgery may be necessary later in life if it ever causes me pain or mobility issues. However, right now, I’m doing great and have no discomfort! I might also benefit from starting joint supplements in the future.

I’m crate trained and will even put myself in my crate at bedtime. Sometimes, I like to retreat there for a little quiet time during the day. I know basic commands and have already completed puppy training before coming into foster care. I’m still working on potty training, but I’m making progress! I walk on a leash but truly love the freedom of running and playing in a fenced-in yard. I’m also a great travel companion—I settle down in my car seat and take a nap during car rides.
