Oliver in Austin, TX

Oliver is a mild-mannered, sweet, quiet and loving six-year-old Ruby Cavalier looking for his forever home. Oliver was born on December 16, 2018. He was released to rescue due to his owner’s health issues.

Oliver loves to snuggle on the sofa while watching TV. He will sleep on the floor next to you as you work, and follow you everywhere you go. He likes to be brushed and be in your lap.

Oliver is house-trained. He uses a doggie door for necessary outside needs. Oliver will also scratch other doors to be let out for potty, as a reminder that he should be let out regularly. (Door guards to protect the doors are advisable.) Oliver is also crate-trained. He sleeps in his crate at night.

Oliver is completely up-to-date on vaccines, which are not due again until June. Oliver is microchipped. He had his last dental in October, 2023. He had some dental extractions in a November, 2022. Oliver takes heartworm and flea preventatives Heartgard and Nexgard. (Several months of these preventatives will be provided.)

Oliver has been treated for skin itchiness and an ear infection/ruptured ear drum. His skin and ears are currently clear, but he has had hearing loss.

Oliver had conjunctival flap surgery on his left eye in 2021, and requires eyedrops twice daily in his eyes. Fortunately, he accepts these eyedrops easily. However, his vision is limited in his left eye.

To treat his mild pancreatitis, Oliver eats Royal Canin GI low fat kibble twice a day. Oliver will eat anything on the floor, so a clean house is a must. He will also eat any and everything in the yard. Oliver will be happiest in a home without young children, other dogs or cats. This will help Oliver’s eye stay protected, and will lessen his exposure to forbidden treats that young children and other pets would be served.

Because eating anything but his food exacerbates his gastro issues, Oliver must be monitored so he will not ingest anything else whatsoever. He must only be fed his special kibble. Fortunately, he really likes eating a few of his kibble as a treat! Oliver enjoys a kibble treat after his eyedrops are administered.
