Sally in Saline, MI

JUST ADOPTED!

Here is Sally with her new family…

Introducing the shy look and beauty of Princess Diana all rolled up into one inquisitive little bundle of Cavalier puppy. Meet Sally, the most lovable Cavalier puppy you’ll ever touch noses with. Sally was born June 13, 2024. She came to rescue with the help of a Good Samaritan. Once in rescue, Sally discovered how much she liked following around her foster sister and running in the yard.

Sally has made herself very comfortable in her foster home after taking time to explore and becoming familiar with regular indoor noises. She is still working on her leash manners. She is comfortable with her collar, and does best walking alongside her foster mom with a light, loose leash. Sally is practicing this by walking outside on a harness and leash, closely following her foster sister. She is eager to say hello to her neighbors when outside. Her forever family will need to continue working on her leash manners, and teach her how to not get tangled up.

Sally is excellent with potty time when taken out regularly. She should be kept to a regular schedule of every two to three hours when awake, and not in her crate. She does not often bark and will need continual training for a “signal” when it’s time to go potty. Her most telling sign is a prolonged smell of the floor. Sally and her foster sister go out for potty time to “try,” and then she is rewarded with a small treat. Sally will need someone who can offer patience, praise, and consistency in regard to potty training.

Sally entered foster care quite shy, viewing her crate as her safe place and hiding herself in a corner or if she feels unsure or uncomfortable. She is growing more comfortable in her foster home and spends more time on the people couch or the dog beds and less time in her crate. For Sally, her crate is a place of comfort and she will easily sleep in there throughout the night with the door open. Because she loves snuggling on the couch, she has also shown interest in the people bed. Anytime her foster family is running errands, Sally is crated.

Sally is interested in small toys and soft bones for her growing teeth. She also loves to chase her foster sister, and has taken a liking to finding and hiding slippers! During the day, Sally takes naps on the couch or on a dog bed in her foster Mom’s home office. She sleeps easily through the night (10 pm – 7 am) without needing any potty breaks.

Sally does excellent at mealtime, and eats at a healthy pace as soon as her meal is presented to her. She is very patient with her foster sister who is working through her own resource guarding issues!

Sally is a great passenger in the car, traveling comfortably in crates and carriers. She likes to ride, and has shown no signs of motion sickness. Sally is the sweetest dog, full of pep-in-her-step and unconditional love!

Sally would love a fur-ever home with someone home during the day for potty breaks and comfy blankies for snuggling! She does well with another canine companion. It is unknown how she is with younger children, but very much loves the teenager in the neighborhood who visits regularly. Sally is afraid of a lot of unknown noises, and reflective objects. It is unknown how she interacts with cats. A fenced-in yard and short walks would also be important. Sally will settle in best at a fur-ever home with a routine and moderate activity levels.

Sally is microchipped and up-to-date on her vaccinations, but will need to be spayed when she is around nine months old. (Her adopting family will need to agree to this in writing at the time of adoption.) Sally will need one booster the week of November 18th to complete her puppy vaccines.
