Shelby in Creswell, OR

Introducing Shelby, an easygoing 11-year-old Tri-Color gentleman who’s ready to steal your heart! This sweet and shy fellow found himself in need of a new home after his long-time owner passed away. Previously, Shelby shared his space with another small dog, and he truly enjoys the company of his foster siblings, often seen lounging beside them or keeping a watchful eye on the household.

Shelby’s favorite spot? A soft bed or blanket near his humans. If he wakes up alone, he’ll roam from room to room or give a gentle bark until he finds you. He loves watching squirrels in the backyard, sniffing around on leisurely walks, and following his foster siblings during outdoor playtime. When it’s time for bed, Shelby dutifully climbs into his crate, ready to settle down.

During his vet exam, Shelby was found to be in good health—neutered, up-to-date on vaccinations, and microchipped. While he’s missing most of his teeth, his adorable smile shines through with his remaining four front canines, and he’s still a fan of mealtime! At his last check-up, he weighed 26.6 pounds, and with a little help from his foster family, he’s on a mission to shed a couple of pounds.

Although Shelby appears to be deaf, he responds well to loud claps and is always eager to follow hand signals from his humans. He’s house trained and enjoys regular outdoor trips, even occasionally barking at the door when he needs to go out. While he prefers to stay dry on blustery days, a little encouragement gets him out into the rain.

Shelby dreams of a family who can spend plenty of time with him. He’d love to have another calm small dog as a companion, but he’s just as happy to be the devoted lap warmer for a lucky human (or two!). Shelby has done fine in a previous home with cats. A fenced yard would be ideal, though a safe place for daily walks would also be a great fit.
