Willie in San Jose, CA

ADOPTION PENDING!

Hello everyone, I’m Willie, a sweet tricolor Cavalier gentleman 2-year-old and weighing in at 25 lbs of furry love. I’m a quiet and extremely shy guy who spends most of my time sleeping near my foster mamma. She says I have the cutest snore when I’m fast asleep, rumbling quietly. But despite being a sleepy boy, I still enjoy daily walks, exploring the bushes along the way. I’ve also recently discovered the joys of chewing on stuffies.

I started life with a large group of other dogs but have had minimal interactions with humans. As a result, I’m extremely shy and fearful around most people. Loud noises, quick movements, or sometimes even someone looking at me will send me scurrying into my crate, a corner, or behind my foster mamma’s legs. So I might not do well in a home with young children.

I do love my foster mamma and give her lots of tail wags and will sit on the couch next to her for long periods of time. But the world in general is scary, so I tend to stay in my safe areas unless I’m coaxed out or led out on a leash. My favorite hidey hole and napping spot is on a shelf near where my foster mama usually sits. It’s taken me a while to warm up to her and I’m still unsure of most of the other people in my foster family. My foster mama says with lots of love and some time to build trust I’ll slowly learn that people are not so scary after all, but I’m still not sure.

I do just fine with the other dogs and cats in my foster family. I’m really good at following the other dogs when it’s time to move between rooms or go out and do my job in the backyard. I learn the best from watching the other dogs in my house so I will likely do best with a companion dog to show me how things work. In fact one of the first things I learned was that my business doesn’t belong inside so I’m good at holding it till I can go outside, whether I’m loose or crated. I’ve also learned to sit at the backdoor before coming inside.

I have a clean bill of health from the vet who says I’m heart healthy, neutered, microchipped, vaccinated, dewormed, and ready to find my furever home. If you feel you’re a good fit for me, please submit an online application if you haven’t already (completely filled out) so we can get to know you better and then send an email to our Northern California Coordinator Sarah Knudsen at sayrahk@gmail.com and let her know you’re interested in me. With all my love, Wille.
