Delilah in Brentwood, MO

Hi, I am Delilah, a young active 3-year-old girl born May 24, 2021 who was saved from a life of breeding by a Good Samaritan.

When I first came into Cavalier Rescue USA, I was shy and very scared (you know, breeder dog syndrome). I quickly realized that pet life was the life I was meant to live! No cages, lots of love, freedom to check out my surroundings, both inside and outside. My foster mom says I am very, very smart. I learned to potty outside and have not had an accident since day 2 in my new life. I am on a regular potty schedule and do not have to be crated! I take over my foster mom’s office when she has to go out, but she doesn’t let me have my soft little toys when she is gone because I chewed one up and swallowed a few pieces. (I did poop them out) but she just wants me safe.

I have a little foster brother, really little (only 5 pounds) and he is teaching me all about the good life. We run all over the back yard and chase birds and squirrels. I investigate all the plants and bushes. I never knew being a dog could be so much fun! He lets me chase him around inside too, but goes upstairs when he gets tired. I can go upstairs too, but only to follow my foster mom as I have to keep a close eye on her!

I was originally scared of leashes and going for walks. My foster mom was patient, and I soon realized that if I didn’t go with them, I would miss out on fun. I am learning to walk on the leash like a pro, and there is so much out there to smell and investigate. There are no things called cats or children in the house, but lots of adult visitors. I bark to let my foster mom know someone is here, but settle down quickly. My foster mom will finish and tell you what a good girl I am!

I have had Delilah for a few weeks, and she had her spay and dental done on 11/14/24, and lost 7 teeth. Delilah is very trainable, and picks up on commands very quickly. It is amazing how quickly she has adapted to her strange new world. She loves nothing more than to be part of my small family. She does not sleep in the big bed, but has a cozy blanket by my bed and sleeps all night. She will pick up socks or other items of clothing, but has not destroyed them. She did tear up a soft toy, so those are now supervised. She loves her collection of babies. She will be your loving shadow. She is by my side when I work in the office or sit on the couch and brings me peace. She is good with other dogs, is up to date on her vaccines, and heartworm and flea & tick preventatives, and she weighs 17 lbs.

Billie and Chloe in Queens, NY

Update 12-9-24: We’ve received several promising applications for this pup so aren’t taking more for now. Thank you!

Billie and Chloe are a sweet pair of Blenheim pups looking for their forever family. Billie is 4 months old and Chloe is 7 months. This little duo are the best of friends. As puppies, they have a lot of energy and enjoy playing together.

Chloe is very sweet and has never met a stranger. She loves going for walks and socializing with people and dogs of any size. Sometimes she is too trusting and doesn’t understand other dog social cues, so her person has to help her make good choices. Chloe walks well on a leash and enjoys outdoor adventures. She is making good strides with potty training. She is eager to learn and would thrive with 1-on-1 training. She weighs 12 lbs.

Billie is still young and has had limited experiences, but she is a very loving, curious, and playful puppy. She also has made great progress with pee pad training. She is very smart and already knows the command “sit.” She will also thrive with additional training. This adorable pup weighs 5 lbs and is in excellent health.

Billie and Chloe absolutely love to play with each other, but they often exclude their foster siblings. It may be difficult for a home with another single dog to be included in their little clique depending on age and temperament. Double the fun and cuteness is also double the work, so a forever home that is flexible to work from home while they continue to learn and grow is ideal. They have been successful with their crate training and can be left for brief errands, and will continue to gain independence as they grow.

Billie and Chloe are an absolute joy. A patient forever home that is dedicated to investing in their growth will enjoy a lifetime of happiness with them.

If you are interested in adopting this adorable pair, please fill out our online application if you haven’t already and then email Michelle Farnum at michelle@morcommunications.com

Update 11-24-24: We’ve received several promising applications for this pup so aren’t taking more for now. Thank you!

Meet our handsome boy, Royce! Royce came into rescue from a home with multiple dogs when the owner needed our assistance.

Royce has good doggy communications skills and would feel comforted with another canine buddy in his new home. (He is unknown with cats.) This sweetheart is friendly with everyone he meets, including children, but would do best in a home with older children. Royce loves to be with his people, and his favorite spot is on your lap of course!

Royce is crate trained and stays there quietly if you need to run an errand. He also sleeps in his crate at night. He has shown great improvement on house training but needs to be taken out often and praised. Royce has also been learning to walk on a leash, and he loves to play outside.

Finnegan in Scotch Plains, NJ

Here is Finnegan with his new family…

Meet Finnegan, aka “Finny-winny.” Finnegan is an active, sweet, handsome, 1-year-old, Blenheim Cavalier King Charles Spaniel who came into rescue because his family felt it was in his best interest to be a part of a more active family.

Finnegan absolutely loves to run and enjoys his new fenced in yard in foster care so a fenced yard for this boy is a must. He always has a toy in his mouth – the ball is his absolute favorite. While he loves to be active, he also loves to snuggle on the couch with his person.

Finnegan walks well on leash and is working on focusing on his person during the walk. He loves to greet everyone and anyone, as his favorite thing is to get attention from people. He is very dog friendly with dogs similar in size, however he is a bit timid with dogs that are bigger than him. He loves his foster brother, Mac and they play regularly. While not a requirement, he would benefit from a housemate who loves to play with him.

Finnegan has learned to respect the cats in his foster family’s home and would likely do okay in a house with cats but may take some time to learn to leave them be.

Finnegan is very well kennel trained and his kennel is his safe space. He will occasionally growl when handled in his kennel but will happily come out when asked. We are working on him becoming more trusting of handling him while in his kennel with positive reinforcement.

Finnegan came into foster care a bit skinny and not interested in food. After switching him to a special veterinary diet, his appetite significantly improved, and he was able to gain some weight. He will need to continue this diet for life and will be limited on what treats he can have. However, now that he has found a food that doesn’t upset his stomach, he loves his food and has good food motivation.

Finnegan otherwise has a clean bill of health. He is up to date on vaccines and microchipped, neutered and fully housetrained.

Lastly, Finnegan is such a sweet boy who just wants to play and be loved. If you think Finnegan would be a good addition to your family, please let us know. Complete the online application if you haven’t already and then contact Rebecca Plimpton at beckplimpton@gmail.com to let her know of your interest.

Jolene in Leesport, PA

Here is Jolene with her new family…

Meet Jolene, also known as JoJo! Jolene is a sweet almost four-year-old Blenheim Cavalier who came to rescue from a Lancaster County commercial breeder after she was not able to produce puppies.

Jolene was timid and shy when she arrived in foster care, but her loving personality quickly surfaced. She was quick to show love, accept love, and to understand what being a ‘normal’ dog is like.

Jolene is energetic and loves to run in the fenced yard, yet she also walks well on a leash. She loves chewing on collagen chews and yak cheese treats, is learning to play with some toys and is working on some basic commands such as ‘no’ and ‘sit’. She is still working on being fully house broken and occasionally has an accident. Regression in this area is not uncommon when changing homes. While she can be very active, she has a typical laid-back Cavalier personality and is more than happy to lay on your lap and snuggle.

Jolene is at an ideal weight, weighing in at just under 16 pounds. She has been spayed, had a dental cleaning, is up to date on her shots, and is being crate trained.

She is currently being fostered in Leesport, PA with three dogs (2 Cavaliers and 1 Golden Retriever) and two cats. She is very curious about the cats and chases and barks at them, but has not shown aggression towards them; therefore, having cats would not be recommended. While in foster, Jolene is part of a very active household but has not been around young children so probably an adult home or one with older children would be best.

If you are looking for a true sweetheart of a young lady with all the Cavalier traits and personality, Jolene is looking for her forever home.

If think you are a good match for Jolene  and live within reasonable driving distance of Leesport, PA please let us know. Just complete the online application if you haven’t alreadyand then send an email to Melissa MacMullin at cavalierrescueusapa@gmail.com to let her know of your interest.
