Sawyer in Marblehead, MA

Update 10-5-24: We’ve received several promising applications for this pup so aren’t taking more for now. Thank you!

Sawyer is a male, Blenheim Cavalier who came to Cavalier Rescue USA after living in a breeding facility. The veterinarian estimates his age at 3-years-old. Sawyer is an energetic dude with a heart as big as his soulful eyes. This sweet boy is adjusting to life after his breeding days, and loving every minute of it!

He’s quickly learning that the world is full of comfy couches, exciting walks, endless ear scratches and lots of playful friends (both 2 and 4-legged)! While in foster care Sawyer made fast friends with his Cavalier foster sister, who showed him the ropes of living in a home. He loves his leash walks and meeting new people and dogs. In fact, Sawyer seems to live by the motto, “A stranger’s just a friend you haven’t met.” If there were a dog yearbook, he would definitely win for most friendly. He could easily live with another friendly dog or shine as an only dog, as long as you’re happy to include him in all the fun.

Sawyer has lots of energy that requires equally as much exercise. A fenced yard for running and playing is a must for this happy boy. His new family must be committed to providing adequate exercise and continuing his house training. In addition to his mastery of the word “treat,” he also needs to focus on and recognize basic commands, such as sit, down, come, stay, leave it and no.

House breaking is a work in progress. At the moment, Sawyer has a tendency to mark. This is improving daily with the use of a belly band and frequent trips outside for potty breaks. Keeping him on a consistent schedule is important. His recent neuter will also help remedy this issue.

Sawyer has been fully vetted and is clear of any health issues. He is neutered, microchipped and up-to-date on immunizations and preventatives.

Sawyer is a friendly and joyful companion who loves to share affection with everyone he meets. If you’re looking for a dog to shower with love and affection and to share adventures with, Sawyer’s your guy!

We know Sawyer will bloom wherever he plants his paws, and we are hoping for a patient, kind active, loving family who will recognize him as the treasure he truly is, to give him his forever home.

Seamus in Dorchester, MA

Seamus is an eight-year-old male Cavalier born on April 21, 2016. He is small, weighing in at  at 14 pounds. He came to rescue as a breeder release.

Seamus is a sweet, loving, shy and devoted Cavalier who enjoys nothing more than cuddling on the couch. He has adapted quickly to his foster family, and loves short walks, playing in the backyard, and belly rubs.

While in foster care, Seamus has learned to successfully walk on a leash, and is almost fully potty trained.

Seamus has been fully vetted and is up-to-date on immunizations and preventatives. It was discovered that he has a neurological condition called syringomyelia (SM). This is a new diagnosis for him, and he is responding very well to the prescribed medication which costs about $40 per month. He will need to be monitored for the remainder of his life. We are hopeful that the medication will allow his owner to manage this condition quite well. Seamus is heart clear at age eight, and otherwise healthy.

Seamus will need a quiet home without young children, a fenced yard and an owner who has the time to give him the attention that he deserves. His new owner must be committed to managing Seamus’ condition and medication, as well as reinforcing his house training. Additionally,  a senior canine companion of similar temperament would be ideal.

If you are looking for a loving, appreciative companion with dark, soulful eyes and a happy wagging tail, look no further than Seamus. Won’t you welcome him into your home and heart?

If you decide Seamus is the missing piece of your family, please email Barbara Blanchette at Blanchettebarbara06@gmail.com to let her know of your interest in Seamus. Please also be sure to fill out our online application.Online Application

Rosie in North Wales, PA

Here is Rosie with her new family…

Rosie is a 5 year old female Tricolor Cavalier King Charles Spaniel that  came from a commercial breeder. She was released because she had a bad urinary tract infection (UTI) and bladder stone requiring surgery. She will need regular visits with a vet to make sure a stone or infection doesn’t reoccur. Her coat was missing fur because of mats that were removed but it is growing back nicely. After a few trims it’s looking better, healthier and more shiny. She was also underweight initially needed to be hand fed. Now that she is healthy, she is better at eating on her own. She is on an healthy diet which includes a cranberry urinary support chew and blueberry snack treats. A follow up urinalysis was clear of crystals with no other issues.

Rosie is very shy but has become a happyoutgoing, and friendly pupShe is very cautious around children initially barked at them. She has gotten used to the visits from the foster’s grandson but, given that she didn’t grow up with children, it would be good to introduce her slowly to them.

She doesn’t like loud unexpected noises so a calm household is a must. She’s okay with fireworks, which are periodically set off in the park nearby. Also, she may require extra visits by a potential adopter to determine if she is good fit.

Rosie can’t wait for you to sit and will quickly come to you to climb into your lap and will happily snuggleWe have allowed her on our sofa and she has a set of steps to use.  If you’re cooking in the kitchen she’ll be right there in a snap. Of course she’s always looking for a treat!

Rosie is fine with other small dogs and mostly ignores them. She had not been with cats. We have parakeets and she is curious but shows no sign of aggression. She will try to chase squirrels and birds outside so she will always need to be leashed. Our home doesn’t have a fenced yard but she would probably enjoy it. She is currently leashed walked for potty breaks.

She does not bark a lot but will alert to sounds outside and loves to watch TV.

She prefers not to be left alone, but if given a treat and left in her playpen with background music, we are able to slip out the door for a quick appointment, etc. We also recommend a quiet home where her human is home most of the time.

Rosie doesn’t like vet visits but isn’t aggressive, and usually hides behind one of us. She has been spayed, had a dental cleaning with 13 teeth extracted, and also micro-chippedShe is up to date on all her immunizations, including bordetella, and weighs 20.5 pounds. She is negative for heartworms and takes a monthly heartworm medicine and topical flea and tick treatment. Ears are clean with no infections, but does have a mild heart arrhythmia. She quickly learned housebreaking and does well if kept on a schedule. Pacing is her cue to go out.

If you are interested in adding Rosie to your family and live within reasonable driving distance of North Wales PAshe would love to meet you. Just complete the online application if you haven’t already, and then send an email to Melissa MacMullin at cavalierrescueusapa@gmail.com to let her know of your interest and please include your location.

Chloe in Worcester, MA

Update 10-5-24: We think we have identified a loving home for this pup so aren’t taking more applications for now.

We would like to introduce you to Chloe. Sweet Chloe is a twelve-year-old Cavalier born 04/12/2012. She is a healthy pup looking for her retirement haven. Chloe was an owner surrender who lived her entire life with one family who was unable to care for a dog going forward. Chloe is what rescue is all about. She needs a home and someone to love her. She needs a place to live out the rest of her days without fear or anxiety. She craves human companionship, and in return, offers her unconditional love, loyalty and devotion. Who can offer Chloe a place in their home and heart?

Chloe is a loving, affectionate and loyal Velcro dog who will stay by your side. She is deaf, but don’t let this worry you. She has a voice and an opinion, and will
communicate her needs and wants by “talking” and barking. She does understand some hand signals. She feels vibrations and is very aware of what is happening around her, and will call out if she cannot find you. For this reason, apartment living is not for her. A securely fenced yard would be a bonus for her. Due to her deafness, the safety of a fenced yard is desirable but not required in this case, as long as Chloe is leashed at all times when outdoors.

For a senior, Chloe is in remarkably good health. At 12, she is heart clear. Her prior history indicates past UTI’s and ear infections. To prevent more, Chloe takes supplements and needs her ears cleaned regularly. She sometimes has a bit of stiffness in her legs but is taking a joint supplement and is always up for a walk.

This girl wants to greet every person she encounters. She is easy-going with adults and children of all ages, and is passive with all the dogs she has met in her foster home, both large and very small. Chloe is perfectly happy to be your one and only. While she does not require a canine companion, if one is already in the home, or visits, she does just fine.

Chloe is aging gracefully, but can be stiff at times. This does not prevent her from walking wonderfully on a leash and she will meander along with you without complaining. With this in mind, a home without many stairs and with carpeting and/or throw rugs to prevent slipping would be wonderful. Chloe is a larger Cavalier. The vet said her weight is nearly perfect for her size! She is a healthy 32lbs. She is spayed/microchipped and has had a full dental cleaning while in our care.

Chloe loves to travel and won’t complain about a long car ride. She asks to sleep with her person in the big bed, is quiet at night and has no potty breaks until morning. She eats twice a day and enjoys, veggies, treats and chews. This mature girl is doing well on Prescription c/d Urinary + Weight Care food and takes several supplements that we hope her new home will keep up with. She is house-trained. Her new owner should be aware that she may need to go out more frequently than a younger dog.

Chloe has shown us that she does not like cats so we won’t place in a home with cats or small critters. She’ll be happiest in a family where someone is home with her much of the time.

If you enjoy the companionship of a senior dog, have time and love to give and want to make a difference in a dog’s life, Chloe is the girl for you. Please complete our online application if you haven’t already and then email Barbara Blanchette at blanchettebarbara06@gmail.com so she knows of your interest in this sweet pup.

Bella in Pasadena, MD

Bella is a 4-year-old Cavalier whose former family put her needs first, knowing she needed more attention than she was getting when circumstances changed in their home. She is ready for her forever home now – is your family the right fit for her?

Bella has separation anxiety and would whine for long periods of time when left alone in her previous home. She will also scratch at the doors. She needs a home where someone is home most of the time and has time to shower her with love.

Bella barked to go outside when necessary at her previous home, and she learned quickly to go outside using a dog door at her foster home and she enjoys having a yard. Bella enjoys meandering about the yard but usually only when her person and/or another dog is outside with her.

Bella is a beautiful girl with a matching personality. She loves to give hugs and will try to smother her human with love. She also loves to give kisses (ok, maybe a full-face bath). Bella has settled into her foster home well. She loves a lap and blanket to lay on. She will snooze on your lap and let you pet her for hours. Bella walks well on a leash and she loves to meet other pets in the neighborhood. She does not like to be left and will try to bolt out the door when humans leave. She is very fast, so caution is needed to ensure her safety.

She loves car rides and likes to see the world outside the window! Bella plays with the toys in her foster home some, but more than anything, she loves to get another dog running with her and playing when she gets the zoomies. She loves chewing on bones and will occasionally chew on inappropriate things if she is not supervised and doesn’t have a bone available.

Bella was recently spayed and had a dental. Her vaccinations are current until 2025. She was a bit overweight when rescued and is now at her perfect weight of 19 pounds. She needs someone committed to keeping her at the right weight. Bella has always eaten home-cooked food, so she would probably do best in a home where she gets the same. She is a beggar, so someone will need to be very skilled at saying no and working with her to not beg.

Bella is accustomed to sleeping in the big bed with her human family and cries if not allowed in the bed. Bella has done very well with a companion and would like another dog in her forever home.

Bella is being fostered in Pasadena, MD. If you think your family would meet Bella’s needs, please complete an online application (if you haven’t already done so) and email Diane Lombardo at cavalierrescueusamdwv@gmail.com.

Lady in Hillsborough, NJ

Here is Lady with her new family…

If you’re searching for a furry friend who radiates love and affection, look no further than Lady.

Affectionately nicknamed “Pancake” for her adorable pancake-like ears and her charming sploots, this 5-year-old Blenheim Cavalier is the epitome of sweetness. While she might be a little shy at first, especially around men, she quickly warms up and showers you with endless love and devotion.

Originally from a breeder, she was surrendered by her previous owner due to circumstances beyond their control. Lady is an absolute joy to be around. She’s wonderful with people of all ages, including kids, and gets along with other pets. In her current foster home, she coexists well with two other Cavaliers and knows when to respect their space. Though she has not been tested with cats, it is hard to imagine a creature that Lady does not get along with.

Lady is a dog that is just happy to be near you. Though she loves walks and exploring, her favorite place is snoozing next to you and getting belly rubs. She demands a lot of affection and needs a family that will give her that. Lady thrives on cuddles and being close to her humans. She requires a home where she can be the center of attention, though she would also do great with a gentle canine friend.

While she does not regularly bark, Lady has found her voice when it comes to her food preparation (it is never fast enough!) and some separation anxiety. Lady may bark when left alone, but quiets down after a short while. She would thrive in a home where someone is with her most of the time. She is housebroken but will go inside if she is not taken on regular walks. She is also a bit clumsy – she is very hesitant with using stairs but eventually gets the hang of it.

Lady, who is spayed and weighs 20 lbs, has a minor Grade 1 heart murmur, manageable with regular vet visits. She also experiences some itching, possibly due to a chicken allergy, so her foster parent is testing a chicken-free diet. While the vet did not find any airway concerns, Lady tends to snort a lot (like a truffle pig) and overheats fast, so please keep this in mind during hotter months. Regular grooming is essential to keep her coat and fabulous ears in tip-top shape as well. While in foster care, Lady received a dental. She is also microchipped.

If you’re ready to open your heart and home to a loving companion who will make every day brighter, Lady is the perfect match for you! To express your interest, please complete our online application if you haven’t already and then email NJ Coordinator Rebecca Plimpton at beckplimpton@gmail.com to let her know to read your application.
