Dessa and Buddy in Murfreesboro, TN

Meet Buddy and Dessa – A Dynamic Duo Looking for a Loving Home together. This wonderful pair of Cavaliers is eagerly awaiting to join a loving family. Let me introduce you to them:

Dessa, a charming ten-year-old Ruby Cavalier, is the quietest and sweetest girl you’ll ever meet. Despite her calm nature, she’s the picture of grace and affection, never barking and always content to snuggle up for a nap. Although she may be a bit shy at first, once she warms up to you, she enjoys relaxing by your side. She loves leisurely walks, chasing toys at her pace, and indulging in treats. She’s a perfect companion for anyone looking for a peaceful, loving dog to brighten their life.

Buddy, an eight-year-old Black and Tan Cavalier, is the opposite – full of energy and enthusiasm. His playful nature, soulful eyes, and ever-wagging tail never fail to bring a smile to everyone he meets. He has a knack for making friends with everyone, both human and furry, and is always ready to show off his tricks like sitting, standing, and twirling for a treat. Though he’s maturing, he still has that puppy-like excitement, especially when treats and belly rubs are involved. Whether he’s chasing his favorite toy or curling up in a sunny spot for a nap, Buddy’s heart is as big as his personality.

Both dogs are wonderful with children and adults alike, and they do great on car rides, content to ride quietly in the back seat. They are also well-mannered on a leash. They were surrendered by their previous family due to changes in their household. Buddy and Dessa are now looking for a family who can provide them with the time and attention they deserve.

A bit more about Dessa:
Dessa prefers a calm environment where she can nap peacefully. She’s somewhat hard of hearing, and while she was initially hesitant to leave her crate, she’s become more comfortable with the family and would love to snuggle in bed under the covers. She’s potty trained, spayed, and has been a wonderful addition to her foster home. She weighs 16 pounds.

A bit more about Buddy:
Buddy is a social butterfly who can easily adapt to any environment. He’s a laid-back, easy-going boy who enjoys being around people and other dogs. Buddy is content to sleep in his crate, on the couch, or even on a cold floor. He does tend to get hot easily, so he likes to find cool places to rest. Buddy weighs 21 pounds.

Health Information:
Both dogs are up to date on immunizations, have recently had their physical exams, and are on monthly flea/tick/heartworm preventions. They were treated for double ear infections, severe dental issues, and gum infections when they arrived at their foster home. Dessa underwent dental surgery to remove 18 teeth, and Buddy received dental work and neutering. They were also diagnosed with Grade 4 heart murmurs and Chronic Degenerative Valve Disease. Buddy also has an arrhythmia, no premature beats noted. After seeing a cardiologist, both dogs are now on Pimobendan to help manage their heart conditions.

If you’re looking for two loyal, affectionate companions who will steal your heart, Buddy and Dessa are the perfect pair. Please be sure to complete an adoption application if you haven’t already done so and then email Liz Nigh at lizcavalierusa@gmail.com to express your interest in adopting this wonderful duo. When reaching out, please include your location so we can consider the best fit for them. Note: Buddy and Dessa must be adopted together as they’ve been raised as a pair and have a strong bond. We look forward to hearing from you!

Bailey in Chapel Hill, NC

Hi! My name is Bailey, and I have the most personality of any Cavalier you’ll ever meet. I’m six years young, and the cutest thing you’ll ever see. One look into my eyes and you’ll be transfixed!

I was surrendered to rescue when my elderly owner needed to enter a memory care facility and could no longer take care of me. In fact, my owner needed emergency medical attention, so I spent about a month living on my own, with my owner’s cat, a doggie door to go in and out of, and a neighbor coming to check on me and feed me a couple of times a day. Thankfully family members stepped in and contacted the rescue. I was pretty lonely, but then I landed with a great foster family, and now I’m happy and back to my normal fun and easy-going personality.

I’m a short little guy, close to the ground, which I think helps me snatch up fallen treats quicker! I do have mild luxating patellas, but they don’t bother me much. My current vet says I don’t need surgery to correct them. My foster Mom has started me on over-the-counter joint supplements and salmon oil, which is really helping. She’s also started me on a diet, because I do need to shed a few pounds. Of course I’d rather eat all the snacks, but I will admit I feel better already. I can’t wait to see how good I feel once I hit my weight goal! I got a little lazy while my owner was away, but my mobility is starting to increase as I lose weight and find new fun things to do.

Because of my adorable body stature, I’m not the best at jumping up and down off furniture, climbing steps, or even getting into bed. I need help getting up on the couch for snuggles. I love to “talk” to you all day long with my cute voice.

I have a typical Cavalier personality. I get along great with my foster mom’s four- year-old son. We’re best friends. I haven’t really taken to playing with toys, but I do enjoy going for a little romp in the yard or neighborhood with my current human bestie. I also get along great with my foster Mom’s two senior Cavaliers. They have really helped me feel safe and settled in my foster home. I have hearing loss, so I use them to take cues from. That’s important when I’m taking one of my naps and it’s almost meal time: when they hop up to eat, so do I!

Speaking of naps, I love naps. I usually snore, but I’m told it’s adorable. I love to find the spot of sunshine on the floor and nap in it. I prefer to snuggle up on your lap on the couch, but a warm sun spot works too! At night, I need to sleep near my person. I am crate trained if you need to leave the house, but I don’t like to be there for very long. At my previous home I was given free rein of the house and did have a few accidents, so the crate is probably the safest spot for me if you need to leave me alone for a few minutes.

My heart is in great shape! No murmur at all. I also have mild cataracts forming, but they aren’t an issue right now and I can see just fine. Like I mentioned already, my foster Mom thinks I might be deaf, but it could also be selective hearing in my new environment.

My new home should be one with an owner that is home most of the day. I have always been around other animals, and it helps me, so I need a home with another like-sized calm canine companion. I lived with a cat before with no issues, so a cat in the home would be fine. I love kids, but they need to be experienced around small dogs like me, and not too energetic. I also need an owner committed to my continued weight loss and helping me increase my mobility. I’ve always had access to a fenced yard and need that in my new home. I also need my owner to take me for leash walks daily.

If you think you might be a good fit as my new forever family and you live within a reasonable driving distance to Chapel Hill, please complete our online application and then notify Angie Hansing of your interest by emailing her at nccavalierrescuemom@gmail.comOnline Application

Wyatt in Rogersville, MO

Meet Wyatt! Wyatt is a three-month-old Cavalier puppy who was born on November 21, 2024. He is a sweet-natured, playful boy who came to Cavalier Rescue USA through a good Samaritan. Wyatt is a handsome Black and Tan boy with white on his chest and under his chin. He is in excellent health. He is an easy-going pup who quickly settled into his foster home and made friends with his Cavalier housemates.

Wyatt is a curious fellow who adorably tilts his head from side to side as he tries to understand what you are saying. Occasionally, he will let out a little bark that is just sweet and heartwarming. He loves to play with squeak toys, chew on bones, and chase balls. Wyatt is an active puppy and likes to romp in the yard, trying to keep up with his housemates. Inside, he follows his foster mom around the house. Wyatt is a great snuggler who nestles as close as possible and quickly falls asleep in your arms.

Wyatt is friendly and happily wags his tail and jumps about when excited. However, he will whine when in his playpen but does quiet down after a few minutes as long as he has a bone or toy to entertain himself. Wyatt sleeps in a crate beside his foster mom’s bed at night for about six hours before needing to go outside to potty. He is quick to potty and falls asleep again until about 7:00 a.m. On days when everyone sleeps in, Wyatt loves to snuggle with his foster mom in bed.

Wyatt is a smart puppy. He learns quickly and has a strong food drive, which makes training easier. He is working on sitting and walking politely on a leash. Wyatt is beginning to recognize his name and will come when called. However, he will need continued training on basic commands. Wyatt is not fully potty trained, and he will need a watchful eye. He does best on a regular schedule, but as a puppy, he occasionally has an accident. Therefore, supervision is necessary while Wyatt acclimates to the household routines of his forever home.

Wyatt is healthy and up-to-date on all medical needs. He will make an ideal companion for active individuals and families. Wyatt’s forever family will be required to have him neutered at about 9 or 10 months. The adoption will be based on that agreement and not final until proof of the completed procedure is provided to Cavalier Rescue USA.

Wyatt will do best with a family that has established routines and another dog in the home that is easy-going and mature.

If you can provide Wyatt with a loving home, please fill out our online application, if you haven’t already done so, and then email Sarah Noebels at Cavalierrescuesarah@gmail.com so she knows of your interest.

Elsa in Wheeling, W.Va.

Elsa is a 4 year old girl who came to rescue from a breeder. She is very smart catching onto housebreaking, walking up and down steps, and learning her name in just a few days of coming into rescue. She is content to spend time alone so she needs to be encouraged to participate in activities where she has to interact with people, other dogs, etc.

Elsa came into rescue on a snowy, icy day so that’s why she was named after the character from “Frozen.” She is very laidback. Her tail wags continually and she loves everyone, human, canine, and feline. She loves toys and gathers them up and puts them on a pillow.

Elsa’s coat was very matted so she has been groomed and is growing her coat out. Her coat is very thick so she will need regular grooming. She weighs 17.7 lbs, has no health issues, and she loves exploring the fenced in yard, sometimes running circles in the yard or chasing after the other dogs.

Elsa is waiting for her forever home so if you are interested in this pretty girl please fill out an online application if you haven’t already and then email Diane Lombardo at cavalierrescueusamdwv@gmail.com of your interest.

Maverick in Ocean Springs, MS

Hi, I’m Maverick! I’m an adorable, sweet, and handsome Ruby boy. When my former owner could no longer care for me, she made the loving decision to reach out to the wonderful folks at Cavalier Rescue USA to help me find my forever home.

My foster mom says I was born on February 21, 2024, which means I’m still a puppy—mind, body, and soul! I absolutely love playing and snuggling with other dogs. I also enjoy chasing and barking at my foster cat, but I have no intention of harming him. When my furry friends are too tired to play, I entertain myself with toys and bones. I’m just a little ball of energy!

Since joining Cavalier Rescue USA, I was brought current on vaccinations, microchipped, and started on heartworm prevention. I was born with cryptorchidism, which was resolved through neutering. I currently weigh 15 lbs. I have bilateral patellar luxation, and my veterinarian has advised that surgery may be necessary later in life if it ever causes me pain or mobility issues. However, right now, I’m doing great and have no discomfort! I might also benefit from starting joint supplements in the future.

I’m crate trained and will even put myself in my crate at bedtime. Sometimes, I like to retreat there for a little quiet time during the day. I know basic commands and have already completed puppy training before coming into foster care. I’m still working on potty training, but I’m making progress! I walk on a leash but truly love the freedom of running and playing in a fenced-in yard. I’m also a great travel companion—I settle down in my car seat and take a nap during car rides.

True to my breed, I love giving kisses, snuggling, and being the perfect little lap dog.

If you’re interested in adopting Maverick, please complete our online application (if you haven’t already) and then email Rescue Coordinator TJ Mareno at Rescue4Life01@gmail.com to express your interest.

Cinnamon in Arlington, VA

Cinnamon is the absolute sweetest little 5-year-old Blenheim Cavalier girl who came into rescue after spending her first years as a breeding mama. She arrived to us timid and scared, but she quickly realized how wonderful her new found life would be!

Cinnamon is the happiest dog at all times. Her tail is wagging from the moment she wakes until she goes to sleep. Her favorite pastime is being snuggled up by your side. She also loves to play with toys and has the playfulness of a puppy. She takes great pride in pulling all the toys out of the basket to play with!

Cinnamon came into rescue with a significant limp due to bilateral medial Patella Luxation (bad knees). She has since had two major surgeries to fix these problems and she continues to rehab. She has been an excellent patient, now walks without a limp and looks forward to the day when she is released from her restrictions and can run again! She has been spayed, microchipped and is up to date on vaccinations. She also had a recent dental cleaning and had a few teeth extracted.

This precious pup does not like to be left alone, so we are looking for a home for her where someone will be home most of the day. She will be your sweetest shadow. Cinnamon does well being left for short periods when she has another dog to keep her company. She is currently fostered with another Cavalier who she loves and a large dog. She gets along great with both dogs. We haven’t had her around cats, but she is very passive with our bunny.

Cinnamon is sweet as pie and has so much love to give! If you feel like you could provide a wonderful home for Cinnamon, please fill out our online application if you haven’t already and then email Diane Lombardo at cavalierrescueusamdwv@gmail.com to let her know of your interest in Cinnamon.

Cinnamon’s vet expenses have been truly extraordinary with two very costly knee surgeries and a spay and dental. Please consider donating to help with these expenses: Click here to Donate
